PRIORITIES FOR RADIUM
Practical decisions. Responsible growth. A strong future for Radium.
Radium is a great community, and I want to make sure it remains that way as we plan for the future. That means making thoughtful decisions, listening to residents and property owners, and carefully considering both the benefits and the long-term consequences of the choices Council makes.
My priorities are based on a simple principle: make decisions that are practical, financially responsible and in Radium’s best interests.
RESPONSIBLE GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT
Radium should grow, but growth needs to make sense for our community.
New development can bring housing, investment and opportunities, but decisions should be based on realistic demand, infrastructure capacity and the long-term interests of Radium.
I believe Council should carefully consider the financial implications of major projects and make sure taxpayers are not being asked to take on undue risk. Growth should strengthen our community without putting unnecessary financial pressure on taxpayers.
RESPONSIBLE SPENDING & TAXES
Residents should be able to expect good value for the taxes they pay.
Municipal costs are increasing, and Radium is not immune to those pressures. That makes it even more important to carefully review spending, establish clear priorities and understand the long-term costs of the decisions Council makes.
I will ask the difficult questions about major expenditures and look for practical ways to deliver the services our community needs while respecting taxpayers.
HOUSING THAT WORKS FOR RADIUM
Housing policy should reflect the realities of our community.
Radium needs a range of housing options for people at different stages of life. I believe we should look for practical ways to encourage long-term housing while recognizing that Radium is also a tourism community with a seasonal economy.
Whether we are considering long-term rentals, short-term rentals or new housing development, our policies should be clear, reasonable and enforceable — and based on what actually works for Radium.
OPEN, ACCOUNTABLE LOCAL GOVERNMENT
Good decisions start with listening and asking the right questions.
Residents and property owners should have meaningful opportunities to be heard before important decisions are made. Public consultation should be more than a process to complete — it should help shape the decisions Council ultimately makes.
I will listen, ask questions, consider the evidence and be prepared to reconsider a decision when new information shows there is a better way forward.
A STRONG FUTURE FOR RADIUM
The decisions we make today will help shape the Radium of tomorrow.
Radium has a lot going for it. Our challenge is to protect what makes our community special while making thoughtful decisions about its future.
I’m ready to listen, ask the difficult questions and work with Council and the community to make practical, responsible decisions for Radium.
